Application Information
We’re thrilled to announce that the application form is finally here! This is your chance to represent Ireland at the 2025 FIRST Global Challenge, where 190+ national teams from around the world will come together to tackle this year’s theme: Eco-Equilibrium. The event will be held in Panama City, Panama, from October 29th to November 1st, 2025.

What Can You Join?
The competition has many different aspects, so there’s a role for everyone, no matter their technical skill level. To tackle everything, we divide into smaller subteams, each with its own leader.
The robot design crew is the largest subteam, and it’s further divided into three groups: the build squad, the strategy and drive squad, and, new for this year, the CAD design team. We also have the research team (NTE), the social media/outreach team and the business team.
Priority Selection Role (PSR)
Once we have assembled a national squad, we must also select a travelling squad which will actually attend the event in Panama. The amount of people we can send heavily depends on the funds raised during the build season.
If you apply and are selected for multiple subteams, you will be granted the Priority Selection Role (PSR). Taking on multiple roles comes with added responsibility, but it means you’ll have a higher rank within the team and a greater chance of being part of the final squad traveling to Panama.
The 'First Team'
Before the event, we must select a 'First Team' of five members. These members will have full access to facilities which won't be provided to other members of the travelling squad like ground transport, food and access to things like team walk-outs and official dinners. This 'First Team' will be selected by the management panel before the event based on work rate during the summer and how essential they are to the proper functioning of the team.
The 'Reserve Squad'
Based on the skill level of the applications we receive, we may start a reserve squad. If placed in this squad, you will be given a chance to work on the team and, should you prove your worth, eventually get upgraded to the Official Team.
